My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Novel Chapter 2 PDF Free Online (Grace and Jason)

Terrence Klein shifted in the front seat of the car and considered his options.

His boss, Jason Reed, had approached the group near the sports car. The headlights showed the woman on the ground and the three men.

He better not go crazy…

Terrence had seen his boss Jason lose it before.

It was terrifying.

He glanced around, gauging if there were any traffic cameras on this deserted stretch of road or if there were any other bystanders who might witness Jason killing somebody.

He prayed it wouldn’t go that far.

But he knew Jason and what he was capable of.

This was going to be bloody, and brutal.

Tonight, the road had already been closed, so who would have expected that five people and a Ferrari would break in here?

They’d disturbed Jason, who wanted to be alone.

Every year on this day, Jason always closed this whole road and stayed on it alone, wearing old clothes.

No one dared to ask the reason as if it were taboo.

Terrence who had worked for Jason all these years didn’t know the reason either.

At this moment, as he watched his boss lift a heavyset man with ease and slam his head against the wall over and over, he did not know whether he should stop him.

He got out of the car.

Beating up some would-be rapists was one thing. Killing them… wouldn’t be so easy to overlook. Or clean up.

And the men on this road were driving a Ferrari not a Ford.

Which meant, like Jason, they had money.

He started toward Jason and then paused when just as suddenly, his boss stopped fighting the man.

“Stop. Please.” Grace touched the stranger’s arm. “If you punch him again, he’ll die.”

“So what?” the man said. He balled his fist as Christopher slid down the wall.

Grace was stunned. It wasn’t until this moment that she really was able to see the man clearly.

He was handsome. With dark eyes and a strong jaw. Full lips and a strong body.

His hair was longer on top and stylishly messy.

When Christopher shuffled back and got to his feet, the man took a menacing step toward him.

“Don’t,” Grace said. “He isn’t worth it.”

The man’s dark eyes cut into her. He looked deadly and still as if people’s lives meant nothing to him at all.

Grace took a deep breath and said, “It is not worth being imprisoned for a lowlife like him.”

The man didn’t nod nor move, but she sensed him relaxing.

Christopher took advantage of the pause to grab his friends and get back into his car. “You’ll pay for this!” he screamed.

Grace didn’t know if he was addressing her, the stranger, or maybe both.

Whatever there wasn’t much Christopher could do that she hadn’t already experienced in prison.

The woman who’d been with these bastards stuck her head out of the car. “Holy sh*t! Is that Jason Reed!?”

The other three men looked at her with shock as they climbed into the car and one asked, “Jason Reed, the richest man in the city? No fucking way.”

Grace understood their confusion.

The man—her savior—wore old clothes. He looked… as broken as she did.

This was no billionaire. His jacket was threadbare, and his face was haunted.

Christopher peeled out with his asshole buddies.

Grace watched the car tear up the street. When the road was once again quiet, she looked back at the man.

Grace hesitantly said, “Thank you… for saving me back there.”

He grunted, but beyond that, didn’t say anything.

When he walked across to the other side of the road, he sat down with his back against the wall.

It was cold and windy. And the temperature was due to drop even lower. If he were to sleep on the road for the night, would he be alive tomorrow morning?

After considering that the man had saved her, Grace started walking over to him.

“Hey, it’s been a rough night. Aren’t you going home now? Where is your family? Do you have their phone number? I can help you call them and ask them to pick you up.”

He slowly raised his head and Grace saw… death.

It was the same darkness she’d seen in her own eyes too many times when she’d been in prison.

The kind of darkness that spoke of nothing to live for. No hope.

“If you have nowhere to stay, you can stay with me,” she said.

***

Grace did not expect to bring a stranger back to her apartment. She wasn’t impulsive by nature, and she certainly hadn’t dated anyone or even considered hooking up with a man since her experience with Sean.

But this man had saved her from rape, maybe even death.

She shuddered at the thought.

Those men, the three of them were soulless… and how could that woman watch on while she was beaten up? As an attorney, she would’ve fought hard to see all of them in prison for their crimes or complacency in it. But life had taught her that the innocent rarely prevailed.

And life was never fair.

So why did she bring this man home?

Hmm. Perhaps she wasn’t ready to concede just yet.

Her apartment wasn’t large. It was just one room with a small kitchen and bathroom. She grabbed a blanket from the closet and laid it on the floor. She took her pillow from the bed and placed it on the ground.

“The bathroom is just through there,” she said.

He crossed to it and closed the door behind him. The water kicked on a moment later.

When the man came out of the bathroom, his hair was wet. He had washed his hair and face. His sleeves were rolled up.

Looking at the man’s wet hair, Grace fetched a towel and said, “Bend over, please.”

The man fixed his eyes on her.

“I just want to help you dry your hair with a towel. I have no bad intentions,” she said. “If you don’t dry your wet hair, you could easily catch a cold.”

He still gazed at her but slowly complied. After a few minutes, he asked in a deep voice, “Are you concerned about me?”

“Yes.” Grace did not avoid eye contact with him. “After bringing you to my home, I don’t want you to get sick.”

With his eyes taking her in like she was some oddity, he slowly bent over.

Toweling his wet hair, Grace asked, “What’s your name?”

He remained silent for a long time, but finally answered, “Jay.”

“Jay,” Grace repeated his name. It was a very common name, so Grace didn’t think much about it.

“My name is Grace. Where do you live? What about your family?”

“I don’t have any family,” he responded.

She suddenly stopped.

How sad. No one should be alone.

She had people before—but they’d turned their backs on her.

“Looks like we’re in the same boat,” she said with a bitter smile on her face as she continued to towel his hair dry.

She rose and got a comb and came back to him. These were small gestures—intimate ones—to touch his hair and smooth it away from his face. But this stranger—Jay—had risked his life for her. It was the least she could do.

As she pushed his hair back, the true features of his face were revealed. He was a devastatingly attractive man. Strong jaw. Full mouth. Dark eyes.

Eyes that were inches from hers and searing her in the place where she stood.

Sir Your Wife Already Signed the Divorce Paper Chapter 11 Free Online (Imogen Forbes and Troy Marshall)

Chapter 11: Speculation

“No,” he answered relatively simply as he leaned on the back of his chair.
Troy rubbed his brow after turning off his computer before he stood up, ready to go, and glanced at the woman not so far away from him.
“Let’s go,” he uttered, and it was heard in the quietness of his office.
It did not take long before they arrived home, and the moment they stepped inside, everything was prepared. In the comfortable dining area, the maids had already prepared the dinner.
After a simple dinner, Troy went back to his study to work overtime. On the other hand, Imogen graced the living room to watch some drama. She poured herself a glass of warm water to consume the medicine she got inside the cabinet. Her throat felt the tablet running down when she took it with warm water.
“Why are you drinking medicine? Is there something wrong? Are you sick?” Troy, who came from behind, suddenly said.
It was because of his sudden appearance that Imogen’s eyes widened, and she felt a thump in her heart. She turned to look at the man she saw standing a few meters away.
“It’s fine. My stomach is acting up these days, but I can manage,” she calmly replied. “Did you have it checked?” He walked closer to pour some water for himself after asking.
The man did not doubt anything, mainly Imogen’s excuse at the dining table that day! “Yes, I have,” Imogen replied, her breathing hitched.
“That’s good,” he muttered while nodding his head. “But make sure to take care of yourself more in the future.”
Hearing those caring words made her feel a lump in her throat, yet all she did was nod coldly and embrace the sadness enveloping her heart.

The following day, the constant ringing of Imogen’s phone woke her up.
It was hard to open her hazy eyes in the morning, but she did so and touched her phone on the bedside table. When she glanced at the screen, she saw someone calling and quickly answered.
“Hello,” she uttered using her groggy voice.
“Director! Something bad happened. Please look on your Instagram; it’s trending everywhere!” The anxious voice of her assistant was heard.
Her brows furrowed, so she asked quickly, “What’s wrong?‘
Imogen opened her tablet without hesitation and went to the social media site. There she found news articles all over the platforms, one after another
“Mr. Marshall and Miss Page have been photographed together.”
As soon as the assistant finished speaking, Imogen had already clicked in and flipped through it.
The silence was heard for a while as Imogen read the article online. Because of that, her assistant got worried and whispered, “Please tell me what to do, Director.” “Wait for me to go to the company. Just contact Sarah’s team and don’t respond to any of the reporters,” she ordered discreetly.
Her eyes were still on her tablet, gazing at the pictures on the trending lists. It showed them going in and out of the restaurant together. Although, there was some sneaky peek information gathered there.
Seeing that, she knew they could release photos of the two sides of the restaurant to stir up enthusiasm.
“I see,” she whispered.
The assistant was about to hang up when Imogen stopped him again. “Listen, you have yesterday’s group photo in your hand, right? Pick a photo of him and Miss Page, ensure they don’t look so close together, and prepare it for me.”
“Understood, Director,” he replied as soon as he heard what she wanted.
Imogen hung up afterwards and prepared herself.
When she arrived at the company, her assistant greeted her, nervous and worried, “Director.”
“Are you done contacting Sarah’s team? What did they say?” Imogen asked as she walked into the elevator.
After seconds, the assistant hesitated but opened his mouth, “Mr. Marshall has already entrusted this matter to the public relations department.”
Hearing that, Imogen tightly pursed her lips without speaking.

The elevator arrived at the corresponding floor, and Imogen emerged from the elevator and met Charlene head–on.
Just as she saw Imogen, Charlene’s face lit up with a proud smile and a strange expression. “Oh, it’s our Director! Did you see the news about Mr. Marshall and Miss Page? Someone’s doing her best to seduce him, but it seems Mr. Marshall’s not affected. I wouldn’t have the face to stay at Marshall Group of Companies if I were you. It’s embarrassing.”
Those words made Imogen’s assistant’s face so red in rage, but Imogen was calm as ever. She pretended that she heard nothing and walked past the woman.
Annoyed at her nonchalance, Charlene called her out again, “Are you even aware that he is going to make me handle this issue?”
Imogen paused her steps.
Seeing a reaction from her, Charlene smiled proudly and slowly walked up to Imogen. “You know what? He asked me to disclose to the marketing accounts that he and Miss Page were once lovers. Do you know what this means?”
Upon hearing this, Imogen felt a chill all over her body. Her face paled, and she went to the office feeling restless.
She picked up her phone and reopened the trending list, and now the comments below have changed direction.
When a female star was related to a businessman, netizens naturally fantasized about being in the identical shoe. This was particularly unfavorable for Sarah, who had just returned to New York for the development.
But now marketing accounts owners were posting blogs, revealing that Sarah Page and Troy were once in a romantic relationship, and even showing their posts and photos in college. In the posts, they were known as the best couple on campus, and in the images, they walked side by side, incomparably matched.
Now the two were reuniting and intended to continue their relationship.
Moreover, there were rumors earlier that the spokesperson for the Marshall Group of Companies was originally Xena Wilson, a famous new star, but it suddenly became Sarah.
It seemed that netizens were feasting over the issues.

My Gorgeous Wife is an Ex-Convict Novel Chapter 1 PDF Free Online (Grace and Jason)

The day Grace was released from prison, two men were waiting for her.

One of them sent her to prison, and the other one convicted her.

The snow was very heavy that day. They looked like two snowmen waiting outside the prison.

Grace vowed in her heart, she’d make everyone pay their price.

“Grace, get yourself a job and be a good person out there.”

The prison guard opened the gate and told her so.

Grace nodded. Through the iron bar on the prison window, she saw two black cars parked out of the gate. Waiting for her.

They were Jacob’s Benz G-Wagon and Sean’s Porsche Panamera.

Heavy snow has caused total chaos on the roads. Jacob and Sean were standing quietly in front of their cars.

Sean held a black umbrella and stared at the gate. Jacob kept looking at his watch.

One of them was Grace’s ex-boyfriend, and the other one was her childhood best friend.

How affectionate and caring they looked! If they hadn’t sent Grace to prison and told the other inmates to “take good care” of her, maybe she would be moved to tears.

Five years ago, Grace went to confront Lily Atkinson, and her sister Jennifer Atkinson was also there. In an unfortunate turn of events, Jennifer Atkinson died. Although it was a terrible accident, the court still decided to sentence Grace to three years in prison.

Lily dragged her sister’s lifeless body out of the car and called the police. Sean arrived soon after.

“Sean, your girlfriend killed my sister!” Lily sat on the ground and cried out.

Sean’s first reaction was to push Grace down onto the ground in case she ran away.

But Grace was already too weak to resist because she’d also been hurt. What’s more… she was pregnant with Sean’s baby.

“How could you be so evil?!” When Jacob rushed over, his eyes were blood shot as he questioned Grace.

Before Grace could explain to the two most important men in her life, she was handcuffed by the police.

In court, Lily’s lawyer was Jacob, Grace’s childhood best friend, another blow to her heart.

Jacob blamed everything on Grace. She was convicted of reckless driving and involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to three years of imprisonment.

“Grace, you deserve this. People have to pay for their mistakes,” he said.

When Grace first got into prison, she was beaten constantly. She was beaten in places without security cameras and had her nails pulled out. She was yanked by the hair and pressed into toilets. Her back was always being kicked, and it was bruised all the time.

They even broke the bones in her finger, one by one.

At first, Grace didn’t know why. She was always stubborn and didn’t cry when they hit her.

But after a while, Grace found out why they picked on her exclusively. Grace sucked up to one of the female bosses in prison. She would wash her feet, give her massages, and even do her laundry. Finally, she gained the trust of the female boss, and she told Grace why.

“Girl, you poor little thing. Someone paid us to beat you.”

Grace knew who it was then in that instant. Sean.

This was the man who ordered two hundred drones to spell out “I LOVE YOU” in the night sky when he was pursuing her.

He said, “Grace, I will protect you from now on.”

***

Upon seeing their cars outside the prison gates, Grace begged the prison guard to let her leave from the back door, to avoid seeing either of their faces.

Besides, what if they were still angry with her and wanted to take their revenge?

I am nothing compared to them. I can’t afford to provoke them, but at least I can hide. Grace thought to herself.

In a trance, Grace remembered her confrontation with Lily. Lily stood in front of Grace while holding her dog and shouted, “My dog is worth 70,000 dollars. How much is your grandfather’s life worth?”

When Grace was three, her mother died and her father remarried. He abandoned her so her grandfather raised her all by himself.

Her grandfather worked night and day collecting junk and empty bottles for recycling.

When Grace was in junior high, she moved to the city from the countryside and lived in a small rental apartment. Her grandfather told her that they could make more money in the city because there was more junk to collect.

But Grace knew the true reason why her grandfather wanted her to go to school in the city.

The children in the city had shiny hairpins, and Grace wanted them too.

Grace’s grandfather once stood outside a small accessories store for hours, then he finally went inside to buy the expensive shiny hairpin for Grace.

When the school offered financial aid to students from poverty-stricken families, Grace’s teacher Mrs. Green helped her apply for it. That’s when Grace met Jacob, Mrs. Green’s son, whom she asked to make friends with Grace.

Jacob had the best scores at school. He occasionally helped Grace with her studies. She was clever and studious, so her grades improved very fast.

Grace’s grandfather was very grateful to Mrs. Green, but he didn’t have any money, so he offered to help tend her garden.

Mrs. Green lived in a small cottage. Her grandfather swept the garden while Jacob and Grace did their homework and played in the yard.

Mrs. Green joked to Grace’s grandfather, “Your little granddaughter is so beautiful and adorable. How about she and Jacob make a cute couple?”

“No, no, Jacob is too good. We don’t deserve him,” he rubbed his hands nervously and said.

Jacob blushed so much that he didn’t even dare to raise his head.

When Grace was accepted by a top university, her grandfather went back to the countryside. He didn’t let Grace go back with him, but she followed him back secretly anyways.

That’s when Grace saw him begging friends for money to cover her college tuition.

Grace’s grandfather did his best to give her everything. Grace vowed in her heart that she would grow up to be a top lawyer so that her grandfather would never have to work again.

He was the best grandfather that anyone could have asked for, but then… he died.

***

The year after law school, Grace started dating Sean of the rich and powerful Stevens family. Suddenly, her father wanted to be in her life again, all because of who she was dating.

“What a nice young man. Bless you two.”

This was what her grandfather said the day she took Sean to meet him.

“You are a big girl now. A big girl should have beautiful dresses. My pretty Grace should not wear shabby clothes,” her grandpa added.

So he continued to collect junk to make money behind her back.

Grace told him not to, many times. He was getting too old, and Grace was worried about his health.

It was a winter three years ago.

He was tackled by an unleashed dog in the park when he was collecting junk.

He fell unconscious on the spot and was rushed to the hospital.

It was Lily’s dog. She said it was worth 70,000 dollars.

That day, Grace’s grandpa was sent to the ICU. Due to a fracture of the cervical spine and spinal damage, he became paralyzed.

Grace needed to pay a lot of money to the hospital, so she went to Lily for compensation. It was her dog after all.

Lily stood in front of Grace and said arrogantly, “You are Sean’s girlfriend? You didn’t get money from him, so you came to me?” Lily had always liked Sean, but he was dating Grace at the time.

“My dog’s leg is broken because of your idiot grandfather, I should be the one asking you for money!”

“You and your grandpa are just a bunch of country bumpkin. You both deserve to die.”

Grace didn’t hold back. She really couldn’t. So, she slapped Lily across the face.

Lily and Grace started to fight. Jennifer, who was Lily’s sister, saw this and came to help.

Grace couldn’t fight two girls as she was pregnant and weak, so she got into her car and wanted to drive away, but Jennifer chased after her in her fancy convertible. That’s when the accident happened.

Grace was arrested by the police. She didn’t even try to escape. Her grandfather was in the hospital, but no one would listen to a “murderer”.

Grace kept shouting Sean’s and Jacob’s names. Grace hoped that at least one of them could save her grandfather’s life.

But they were on the side of Jennifer and Lily.

When Grace was detained, she heard that her grandfather had been in the ICU for 15 days and was discharged.

But he became paralyzed for life, and he didn’t want to be a burden to Grace so he committed suicide.

That day, Grace was lying on the ice-cold ground and had a miscarriage.

She couldn’t save either her grandfather… or her baby.

When Grace was locked up in prison, Lily went to see her.

Lily whispered to Grace, “My dog has always been obedient. Guess why my dog tackled your grandfather?”

The dog didn’t know anything, he only followed his owner’s orders, and his owner’s heart… was vicious.

Lily hated Grace because she was dating Sean.

Grace had a lot of time to think while she was in prison. She blamed herself for the death of her grandfather. Lily would’ve never harmed her grandfather if she didn’t date Sean.

Grace had a dream that her grandfather came back to life, and he told her how she was a good girl. Grace knew then it was just a dream because she was not a good girl like her grandfather said, she was a piece of garbage.

If she could turn back time, she wouldn’t want any shinny hairpins or any nice dresses, and she most certainly wouldn’t want Sean.

The only thing she wants is just to have her grandfather back.

“Aah!” Grace opened her eyes suddenly. Only then did she realize that she had been dreaming of what had happened all those years ago.

She looked down at her calloused hands.

After three years of imprisonment, and multiple fractures and broken bones, her hands would never look or feel the same way again.

Her fingernails had grown back, but the prison doctors hadn’t gone out of their way to reset her bones.

Her joints looked distorted, and she had residual pain. I was nerve damage.

There were many fine movements that she couldn’t perform very well.

Her fingers hurt more especially when it was cold or humid outside.

Grace flexed her hands and breathed deeply.

It’s okay. You’re okay.

Today is a new day.

She repeated the mantra as she stood up and resumed working.

Sometimes, the memories threatened to consume her.

She’d lost more than just her freedom in that accident.

Her future. Her boyfriend. Her grandpa.

Everyone and everything she’d cared about was gone in an instant.

Jennifer Atkinson whom she’d accidentally killed was the daughter of one of the wealthiest and most powerful families in the country. What’s more, she was the fiancée of Jason Reed—the most powerful man in the city.

It’s okay. You’re okay.

Today is a new day.

You don’t need anybody.

Grace finished mopping the room.

She was wearing the bright-colored work suit of a sanitation worker with her long hair tied into a simple ponytail.

She caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror on the wall. Her delicate face was slightly reddish due to the cold weather, and her mouth was pressed into a thin line.

If you were to only look at her face, you would think she was a student who had just graduated from college. But gone was that youthful ignorance.

She’d seen how cruel the world could be.

The eyes that stared back at her were old, far older, and duller than they should be.

She sighed and rolled the cleaning supplies toward the door.

Sitting down for a few minutes had been foolish.

She hadn’t meant to drift off to sleep.

With an eye on the time, she moved quickly and efficiently to clean the rest of the building.

The life of a sanitation worker wasn’t glamorous, but after she left prison, this was the only job she could find.

When she was about to leave, she heard a colleague watching the news on her mobile phone.

“Whoa! Lily is engaged to Sean Stevens! What a lucky girl Lily is! As a superstar and a daughter of a rich and powerful family, now she is going to marry into the wealthy Stevens family too.”

Grace shuddered, and then she hurried out of the Sanitation Service Center.

She took a deep breath. Then another.

She repeated her mantra and pushed the thoughts of her ex-boyfriend and his new fiancée far from her mind.

She swept the walkway as this was her routine.

This time of year, the cold winter wind blew and it pained her hands terribly.

She should’ve stopped to grab her coat, but she’d been too fixated on escaping her co-worker and any more ‘good news’ about the happy couple.

A couple that had stood by and watched as she was savagely beaten.

Suddenly, a Ferrari stopped in front of her.

Three men and a woman got out of the car; they were obviously drunk.

One of the men looked at Grace with a tipsy expression. He laughed cruelly. “I know you. What are the odds of finding Sean’s ex-girlfriend?”

Grace paled. She wasn’t expecting to encounter anyone tonight, let alone someone she recognized.

The man in front of her was a trust fund baby that she had once cussed out when he’d made a pass at her back when she was dating Sean.

In hindsight, many of Sean’s friends were elitist creeps. She should’ve paid more attention to that, after all, birds of a feather flock together.

“Aren’t you a great lawyer? Why are you sweeping the road here?” Christopher Peterson asked knowingly.

Another man stepped forward after Christopher. Grace didn’t recognize him. “Can a woman who has been in prison be a lawyer again?” he questioned.

The woman laughed. “Bah, a lawyer? Just a janitor now!”

Christopher stepped closer. “Surely there are better ways for you to make money. Come with me,” he said. “I’ll pay you for a night, beats sweeping the streets.”

He held out his big, fat hand and the other three burst into laughter.

But Christopher wasn’t asking, he was already moving in on Grace.

Grace dodged, but the building was right behind her and there was nowhere to run. He grabbed her arms and pressed her against the wall at the side of the road.

It was late at night, and no one passed by this area.

She screamed but she knew her coworkers inside the building wouldn’t hear.

Christopher’s friends got back into the car. They didn’t care what Christopher did to her.

He knocked her head back against the wall, and her vision dimmed.

The hand around her throat tightened and she clawed at it. “L-let me go…”

He used his free hand to pull at his belt, and Grace kicked out hard, kneeing him in the groin.

“You bitch!”

He backhanded her so hard that her ears started to ring.

When she kicked again, he jumped backward, and it was just the chance she needed. Grace took off running.

Christopher blocked the way to her building, so she had no choice but to run down the street.

Construction on the road limited the traffic and the late hour ensured there was no one to help her—or to hear her scream.

When the car roared to life and tires screeched, she knew he hadn’t abandoned the chase. She stuck to the sidewalk thinking she could evade them, but when she turned down a side street, the car jumped the curb and followed.

When she came out the other side and circled back down the next street, thinking she could run back to the Sanitation Center for safety, the car cut around her and clipped her.

She collapsed to the ground and struggled to get up.

Christopher leaped out of the car and left it running. His two friends fanned out on either side. The headlights all but blinded her.

She scrambled to stand as Christopher pulled off his belt. He shook his head at Grace. “You didn’t think I forgot the way you insulted me, did you, bitch? You told Sean to stop working with me, it cost my family millions!”

He advanced on her like a predator.

“Sean isn’t here to protect you now.” He coiled his belt around his hand like he meant to strike her with it.

“Fight all you like, but I’m going to fuck you like the bitch you are, right here on the street.”

Grace struggled to get up, she didn’t think anything was broken, but she was still slow and disoriented.

When Christopher lunged, she tried to move, but his heavy body pinned her to the concrete. He fumbled at her clothes and she fought.

“Stop! Get off me!”

She thrashed even as he brought his hand down with the belt. It burned the skin along her arm and the buckle cut through her clothes and skin.

“Stop it! Stop!!!” Grace cried at the top of her lungs.

“I think you should listen to the lady.” A cold voice sounded behind her.

Christopher froze.

Grace turned her head to the man standing beside them. She didn’t know where he came from.

“Fuck off!” Christopher told him.

Christopher didn’t feel scared of the man, it was three against one.

Grace whimpered. She had no reason to think this newcomer would risk himself for some stranger on the street.

The Double Life Of My Billionaire Husband novel (Natalie Quinn and Sebastian Klein novel)

The Double Life Of My Billionaire Husband Novel Chapter 233 Free Online (Natalie Quinn and Sebastian Klein novel)

Sebastian could understand Natalie’s concern. She was hesitant to accept Brandon’s help because she didn’t want to be indebted to him all her life.

Natalie seemed reluctant regardless of what Sebastian said.

But knowing that his wife needed a nudge, Sebastian took her to the villa that night. The villa was equipped with furniture of various kinds and daily necessities.

They didn’t have to buy anything apart from personal belongings. Natalie was frightened and uncomfortable about the extravagance, so she sent a message to Brandon that night.

“Mr.Larson, thank you for your timely help.I will find another house and move out as soon as possible.”

However, Brandon didn’t reply. Seeing Natalie’s message, Sebastian turned and glanced at her.He could tell she was fighting a battle in her mind.

Natalie’s innocence made him fall in love with her all over again.

They were in the downtown area of Seacisco. She could never find an affordable house here.

After work that Friday, Laney accompanied Natalie home as usual.

“Are you busy with work lately? Why have you been acting so mysteriously the past few days?” Laney asked with slight frown.

She still lived in the same old apparent, which was near Natalie’s new place.

Because their homes were relatively near each other, Laney usually walked home with Natalie.

Natalie sighed.

“I’m looking for a house.”

“I heard that Mr.Larson is lending you a house.”

“I know, but Mr Larson’s villa is way too luxurious for me.I have to spare some time to find a new apartment” Natalie said warily.

It was clear that the matter was really stressing her out “Let me help you.I have nothing to do after work anyway. Are you looking for an apartment near the office?”

Secretly.

Laney couldn’t help but think that Natalie was being too naive.

This was the most prosperous city center in Seacisco. Ordinary wage eamers like them couldn’t afford rent here.

“Of course it’d be great if it’s near the office.I know that housing there is really expensive, but I was able to find a cheap apartment before, right? I’m going to try my luck.”

But finding an apartment at the right price point was not as easy as Natalie thought.

After making a few enquiries, she found that rent in the area was ridiculously high.

Although the apartments on the periphery of the city were much cheaper, she’d have to spend a lot of time commuting.

If she wanted to get to work on time, she’d have to get up two hours earlier than usual.

Laney figured that Sebastian didn’t want Natalie to live in a tiny apartment in the suburb and spend hours commuting anymore, nor did he want to expose his identity.

That would’ve explained why he gave her a house under the name of the Larson Group.

“Apartments here are really expensive. If you’re looking to rent a place as cheap as your old place, you’ll have to consider renting in the suburbs,” Laney suggested.

Knowing who Sebastian was, Laney thought it was more reasonable for Natalie to just live in the villa.

Natalie shook her head, feeling depressed and helpless due to the exorbitant rent prices.

When she came home, Sebastian immediately sensed that something was wrong.

“Did you go looking for a new apartment again?” Sebastian asked, leaning back on the spacious sofa.

The room was warm enough today, so he only wore a casual cotton shirt.

Feeling sore and tired, Natalie rubbed her shoulders and threw herself into Sebastian’s arms.

“My conscience is killing me not to live in a fancy house like that.I feel like a freeloader, Sebastian. This house doesn’t belong to us, nor is it our home.”

Sebastian wrapped his arms around Natalie’s waist and held her tightly.

Twirling her hair with his fingers, he murmured, “Given our current situation, it’ll be difficult to buy a house. You’ve been taking care of me in the hospital lately. Your work must’ve been affected, right? Why don’t you stop looking for a new place and focus your time and energy on work first?”

Leaning on Sebastian’s chest, Natalie could feel his well-defined muscles through his thin clothes.

Her eyelids drooped and she said resignedly, “I guess we have no choice but to live here for the time being and move out as soon as we have enough money.”

Natalie had been busy with her work lately.

The following day, while Natalie was poring over her work, Tiffany came to her desk again.

“Please see me in my office, Quinn.”

Natalie promptly put aside her work and went to Tiffany’s office.

To her surprise, not only Tiffany was there but also a beautiful and sexy woman.

Lounging on the sofa, the corners of the woman’s slanted eyes were slightly raised, and her big black locks hung loosely around her shoulders.

Her stunningly beautiful face was unforgettable.

“We have a big project on our hands, Quinn. You’ll be in charge, along with the senior designer, Patty Jenkins.”

Tiffany gestured at the beauty sitting on the sofa.

“It’s nice to meet you, Miss Quinn.Good luck to us and our cooperation,” said Patty with a reserved smile.

“Nice to meet you, Miss Jenkins.I hope we’ll have a pleasant cooperation, too.”

Natalie nodded with a smile. She had heard of Patty.

This beautiful designer was very famous in the design department.

Not only was she a looker, she was also very talented.

Plus, she was the girlfriend of the director of operations of the Larson Group, so everyone tried to curry favor with her.

However, the senior designers were not on the same floor with them.

Natalie didn’t really know much about Patty, and she had only seen her several times in the department meetings.

Natalie felt that Patty was a bit arrogant and unapproachable, but perhaps it was all justifiable since she was indeed young and talented.

“Here’s some info on this project.Quinn, you can have a look for yourself first. We’ll meet up with the client in the afternoon and discuss these matters together then.”

Patty handed the documents in her hand over to Natalie and then winked at Tiffany before she left the room.

Tiffany didn’t say a word as if she hadn’t seen anything.

Natalie saw the interaction between the two of them, decided to put it out of her mind, and instead she lowered her head and began to read the documents.

The client of this project happened to be Yoyo Fashion, a large-scale fashion brand company located in Seacisco.

This brand was very popular among those at home and abroad, from teenagers to middle-aged people.

So it was obvious that it had a very wide range of consumers.

Inside the meeting room.

Ronald Williams, the project director of Yoyo Fashion, began to state his opinions.

“We want the design to be fashionable, leisurely, and comfortable all at the same time. Our customers are basically 16 to 40

years old, so I hope your design can meet their standards and preferences.”

After having said that, Ronald turned around to look at Natalie and Patty and said to them, “Miss Quinn and Miss Jenkins, if you have any suggestions, you can put them forward at any time during our meeting.”

While listening to Ronald just now, Natalie had already quickly made two sketches.

As she was about to stand up and hand the drafts over to him, Patty had already come up to him with an iPad in her hand.

“Here are some of my previous designs that you can look at.How do you like this style?”

Patty said this in a confident tone and displayed her drafts to the people of Yoyo Fashion.

Ronald nodded as he skimmed through.

“Well, it’s very good. But the style is a little simple and there’s nothing eye-catching about it.”

He then turned to look at Natalie and asked, “What does the other designer think?”

Patty looked in the direction of where Natalie was sitting and then smiled politely at Ronald.

“Miss Quinn just so happens to be the preliminary designer of our company. She’s only here to assist me.”

After having said that, she went on to carefully explain her ideas in greater detail. She didn’t even give Natalie the chance to speak up at all.

At the same time, Natalie could do nothing about it‘She simply sat there, forcing herself to smile.

After that, Natalie met up a few more times with Patty and the client.

She discovered that Patty was very domineering in all these meetings.

This woman always went out of her way to control the overall situation and made decisions all by herself, without giving Natalie even a chance to let everyone know her opinions.

Due to the fact that Patty had a higher rank than her and had a strong background in the company, Natalie decided to simply put up with it.She didn’t bother complaining and just did her job of assisting Patty.

Natalie had originally thought that the cooperation would go fairly smoothly.

Patty was really an_ insightful designer, but her stubbornness happened to stand in the way.

Because of her arrogance and bad temperament, she never compromised when dealing with the client.

That was why frictions could not be avoided and the cooperation between the two sides turned out to be not very smooth.

During the project, the conflicts and disagreements between the two sides were growing more and more serious by the day.

Therefore, Ronald, the project director of Yoyo Fashion, specially invited Natalie and Patty to have dinner with him, saying the reason he was inviting them out was because he wanted to take this opportunity to ease things up between the two sides.

The restaurant he picked out happened to be in a five- star hotel.

At the dinner, Ronald and several male colleagues of his drank a lot and their faces were red as a result.

During the meal, those men headed out to smoke, leaving only three people behind.

Ronald, Patty, and Natalie were the only ones left in the private room.

Ronald kept chatting a storm with Patty and began to get fresh with her.

A hint of impatience flashed across Patty’s preity face right then.

“Mr.Williams, please behave yourself. If you’re really drunk, I’ll ask someone to take you home.We can discuss the project in-depth tomorrow at the company.”

After saying her piece, Patty pushed Ronald’s hand off her legs in total disgust.

Ronald only continued to grin shamelessly.

He went on to stroke Patty’s thighs with the palm of his hands again and whispered in her ear, “Miss Jenkins, you’re too stubborn. And I can’t let things go on like this. How about this, if you join me for one night, I’ll make a compromise and take your opinions into consideration.I promise that this project will be completed smoothly and perfectly from now on.”

He usually didn’t talk much, but he always liked to stare at her with his gentle eyes.

Natalie felt a blush creep into her cheeks.

“I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have spoken ill of your father.I just… I just feel terrible for you, for everything you’ve been through.”

Sebastian had lost his mother at a young age, and had to fend for himself ever since. And then his father turned out to be a massive scumbag.

“Come here.” Sebastian waved her over with a faint smile.

Natalie plopped on the edge of the bed with her head lowered, like a child who knew she had done something wrong and was about to be scolded.

The bed was high enough that her feet dangled just a couple of inches from the floor.

She began to swing her legs nervously as she waited for the inevitable.

Sebastian reached out and gently stroke her hair.

He could tell what was on her mind.

“It doesn’t matter. don’t see them as my family, anyway. You are my only family.”

Natalie’s lashes fluttered as she raised her eyes to look at him.

Moments later, they were entangled in a deep kiss, teasing and chasing until they were both out of breath.

Sebastian stayed in Frank‘s hospital for two weeks.

Natalie came to see him every morning before going to work.

And after work, she would come back to see him and stay in the ward until late at night.

Natalie was good at taking care of people. She was kind and considerate and would go out of the way to help others.

On the day Sebastian got discharged from the hospital, he kissed Natalie’s cheek and pinched her slender waist.

“You are cut out to be a good wife.” Sebastian recalled their past.

Natalie would sometimes get pissed but never lost her temper.

Even if she got angry, she would still speak softly as if she would break into tears the next second. She was a pitiful fragile doll.

Natalie’s face turned beet red.

“Stop it!” She pushed Sebastian away.

“I used to take care of Hannah. She is old, and it was more difficult than taking care of you.”

Sebastian‘s lips curled up into a smirk. He leaned against Natalie’s shoulder and buried his face in her thick locks, inhaling her sweet scent.

The alluring scent aroused him.

“Ahem! Can you guys stop it? Sebastian, you’ve just recovered. You shouldn’t indulge in any kind of physical activities until you get better,” Frank advised, clearing his throat.

Natalie immediately pushed Sebastian away and turned to look at Frank.

“Doctor Watson, how is Sebastian now? Is there any sequela of his burn?”

“I’ve tried my best, but there are still a few burn scars on his back.Luckily they are not too obvious.”

After a moment’s thought, Frank added, “They won’t be visible if you turn the lights off.”

Natalie glared at Sebastian, her face burning with embarrassment.

However, the fact that there were still scars on Sebastian‘s back broke her heart.

Sebastian looked up and pinched Natalie’s ear.He squinted, his eyes gleaming with mischief.

“It’s okay for a man to have some scars on his body.”

The apartment where Natalie and Sebastian lived was burned down to ashes.

Therefore, while Sebastian was at the hospital, Natalie had been staying at Laney’s place.

She had been busy taking care of Sebastian and had no time to look for a new apartment.

But now that Sebastian was discharged from the hospital, she had to start looking for a place to stay.

Natalie was worried.

The rent of the apartments around the Larson Group was frightening.

Finding an apartment as cheap as the previous one was an impossible task.

To make matters worse, all their belongings in their previous apartment were destroyed in the fire. She had to spend a lot of money to buy new ones.

Natalie was determined to find an apartment today.

Just as she was about to turn off the computer and leave work, her phone chimed with a message.

It was from Brandon.

“Garrett told me you don’t have a place to stay after the accident.I can provide a temporary residence for you and your husband. You can live there for the time being and then slowly start looking for a new apartment.”

Since Brandon and Sebastian looked so mutch alike, Natalie believed they must really be twin brothers.

Therefore, she had this feeling that Brandon now regarded her as a member of his family since she married his brother.

And now, Brandon was offering to help them again. She thought Sebastian had probably guessed it right.

Perhaps Brandon knew that he and Sebastian were brothers, and that was why he was looking out for them.

Natalie thought about this and decided to put aside all her doubts.

After a moment’s hesitation, she politely accepted his offer. She thought Brandon was simply taking care of his brother.

Once Natalie agreed, Brandon instructed his staff to take her to the new residence.

At first, Natalie was happy because the place was just a ten-minute walk from the Larson Group. She estimated it was the same as the community they had lived in before.

However, her body froze when she arrived at the locality.

Luxury cars like Lincoln and Maybach were parked all around the community.

The trees and flowers in the garden were rare and exquisite.

Inside were independent baroque-styled villas, and every building had special service staff.

It was obviously an expensive gated community.

For a moment.

Natalie thought she had entered Downtown Abbey. The place looked too posh and elegant for her.

“You sure this is the place Mi Laison mentioned?”

Natalie asked the man who was escorting her into the community And then she carefully examined the luxurious, exquisite villas on both sides lanet know she wouldn’t feel comfortable living in such an opulent community

“Yes, Miss Quinn the entire neighborhood is the real estate project Mr.Larson has recently undertaken. He said you can move into any villa of your choice. We will help you pick the right one if you can’t decide,” the man replied politely. Natalie was stunned. She thought Brandon would probably find a studio apartment for her but never thought a villa would be allocated to her.

The community was located in the heart of the city, and the environment looked serene.

Natalie felt she couldn’t even afford a room here with her ten years’ salary put together.

Besides, the man had revealed that the entire neighborhood belonged to Brandon.

It looked like Brandon had endless wealth — what people saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

The more Natalie wandered around the villa community with the man, the more uneasy she felt.

She quickly took her phone out and sent a message to Brandon.

“I’m sorry, MI Larson. The residence you’ve recommended looks very expensive.I can’t live there.Besides, with my current salary,

I can’t afford the rent.”

Brandon was prepared for such a situation.

He quickly replied, “This is, by far, the smallest group of houses on my property. They are vacant now, so I decided to offer one to you. This way, I wouldn’t have to waste my time looking for other houses for you.The neighborhood is a new project. Can you do me a favor? I would like you to live there for a while and experience the service and comfort of living there.I want you to experience everything and offer feedback and suggestions for improvement. If you offer this help, I’ll allow you to live there rent-free”

Although it seemed like a good offer, Natalie didn’t dare accept it.She returned to the hotel where she and Sebastian were staying for the time being and discussed the situation with him.

“Mr Larson’s house looks great,” she admitted honestly.

It was a villa she could never afford in her life.

“Well, since itis good, why do you seem upset?”

Sebastian could tell Natalie was lost in thought.

He couldn’t understand why she was upset even after they had found a house to live in

“But the house is too good for us. It’s too opulent and cozy.I can’t live there at ease.”

Sebastian pursed his lips and thought for a while.

Then he said, “But he is asking you a favor.Besides, the hotel room is expensive as well. We can’t afford to stay here all the time. Why don’t we move into Brandon’s house first, and then continue looking for other houses? Once we find a comfortable place we can afford, we can vacate the villa.”

The Double Life Of My Billionaire Husband Novel Chapter 231 Free Online (Natalie Quinn and Sebastian Klein novel)

Early that morning, after cooking some nutritious broth, Natalie delivered it to the hospital

She had become just like a supervisor, making sure that Sebastian ate on time every single day when Trank came to visit Sebastian, he even joked that he had never seen anyone gain so much weight after being hospitalized

Once Natalie was finished feeding Sebastian, she started cleaning up the table. She tied her long hair into a ponytail. revealing her neckline. She looked particularly charming at this moment.

The Adam’s apple of Sebastian bobbed up and down as he grabbed her wrist.

His body was bandaged, so only his hands could move.

“Do your wounds hunt” Natalie asked worriedly.

Sebastian stroked her fingers gently if he had more strength right now, he’d pull her into his arms and kiss her passionately

Natalie had no idea just how attractive she was to him right now

“Come here,” Sebastian said, restraining his urges,

Natalie’s eyes widened in confusion but she still leaned over, obeying his command

Just then, they heard a knock coming from the door

He glanced at the door, frowning at the sight of Patrick. The man was donned in a suit, followed by his assistant The latter was carrying several gifts in hand.

Upon seeing him. Sebastian scowled.

“Mr. Klein, don’t you think it’s rude to barge into my room without my permission

Patrick beckoned his assistant to put the gifts on the table. With his hands behind his back, he said in a heavy nasal voice, “Sebastian, is that how you’re supposed to speak to your father?”

Patrick appeared to be serious, but in truth, he felt proud to see the man his son had grown to become. It was apparent that

Sebastian had become tougher, stronger than before, and his tone was just as imposing as Patrick back when he was younger.

Sebastian looked away, leaning against the headboard in silence. Natalie stood up and continued to clean the table. She didn’t like the Kleins; in fact, she disliked anyone who mistreated Sebastian.

While watching her clean the table beside Sebastian, Patrick guessed that she must be the Quinn family’s daughter.

“Miss Quinn, please leave us. I’d like to talk to Sebastian alone,” Patrick commanded with a condescending stare. Natalie pursed her lips, glanced at Sebastian, put away the tableware, and nodded.

But before she could leave, Sebastian grabbed her wrist.

“Natalie is my wife. Whatever you have to say to me, she has the right to hear it too. Now, if you wish to say something, go ahead,” he said calmly. a Anger surged in Patrick’s heart. He couldn’t figure out what was on Sebastian’s mind anymore.

Suppressing his anger, Patrick asked, “Sebastian, why did the helicopter of the Larson Group come to save you?”

Sebastian let go of Natalie’s wrist, put his hands behind his head, and nonchalantly replied, “The Klein family is powerful, isn’t it? You should figure out the reason already, so why bother asking me? Besides, the incident has already been reported on the news.

The Larson Group also made a statement that their helicopter just happened to pass by and saved me along the way.”

Patrick appeared dignified as he stood beside the bed, offering not a shred of fatherly love. “Do you think I’ll believe that bullshit?”

After a pause, he asked in a more powerful voice, “How are you connected to Brandon?”

“Why are you asking me that?” Sebastian looked up They were both equally daunting in a sonorous, powerful voice, Patrick replied, “As you know, the Larson Group is now the biggest enemy of the Klein family li you have any special connection to Brandon, perhaps you can help the Klein family .And if you make a great contribution, I’ll consider taking you back into the Klein family”

Back when Sebastian was nine years old, he came to Patrick, wanting to live in the Klein household. He was on his own for many years. For those reasons, Patrick believed that Sebastian longed to become a part of the Klein household

“Do you really think I’d want to go back to the Klein family?” Sebastian sneered.

Patrick asked, “Don’t you want to come back? Isn’t that why you came to your grandmother’s birthday party?”

Sebastian shook his head and clicked his tongue, like he had just heard the funniest thing in the world, “You’re quite confident. I

really want to know why you think I’d want you to take me back to the Klein household That family means nothing to me now,”

Sebastian declared sternlys.

Patrick had not expected to hear such words from Sebastian His son‘s eyes were just as cold and disdainful as that woman‘s had been. Sebastian’s expression was so much like Sylvia‘s that for one brief moment, Patrick felt as though he had been transported back to the past.

He could certainly see her in their son It took Patrick a while to snap out of his daze. Embarrassed by Sebastian’s dismissive attitude toward him, he couldn‘t help but lash out.

“You’d better think it over carefully.Don‘t act all arrogant and just be grateful for my offer.Once you come home, we will recognize you as a member of the Klein family, and your situation will definitely change for the better.”

The way he saw it, he was already being more than gracious by making this offer.

If his son had any sense, he would gladly accept the opportunity and make the most of it.

But Sebastian was done talking to Patrick.

He touched Natalie’s hand and said, “See Mr.Klein out for me.”

He was clearly sending Patrick away.

As for Natalie, she didn’t like the man at all.He might look and sound like a decent, rich man, but his hands were tainted with blood.

Patrick had raped an innocent woman, and abandoned her and their child in the years that followed. They all knew that he was only trying to cozy up to Sebastian now because of his selfish interests.

Contrary to what he had been expecting, however, Sebastian had no regard for the Klein family whatsoever.

Without missing a beat, Natalie strode over to the door and opened it before gesturing at Patrick

“Please, Mr.Klein,” she said in a chilly voice that could rival Sebastian‘s.

Patrick was beyond mortified at this point. This couple had actually dared to give him the cold shoulder.

Him, of all people

The shameless Quinn girl was just as brazen as his bastard son.

Patrick struggled to compose himself. He refused to lose his cool in front of these insolent youngsters.

“Don’t worry, I can manage by myself,” he scoffed.

Just before he walked out of the room, he glanced back at Sebastian with a last reminder.

“I’m warning you, Sebastian, if you blow this chance, you will never get another one. Yau may never step into the threshold of the

Klein residence for the rest of your life. You—”

He was cut off as Natalie unceremoniously slammed the door on his face.

“I can‘t believe a man could be this mean,” she grumbled, crossing her arms over her chest.

“You’re still his son! The least he could have done was to be courteous and respectful. He doesn’t deserve to be anybody’s elder.” A surprised grin broke out on Sebastian’s face.

He hadn’t seen her so worked up before. It was adorable. He leaned back against the headboard and studied Natalie.az She bristled under his scrutinizing gaze, and she awkwardly averted her eyes.

Her husband was an enigma, really.

Sir Your Wife Already Signed the Divorce Paper Chapter 10 Free Online (Imogen Forbes and Troy Marshall)

Chapter 10: Siblings

As tensions rose at the dinner table, not only were the Marshall Group’s staff upset, but even Sarah’s team members found it hard to maintain their composure. Under the table, Sarah’s assistant discreetly tugged at Ylah’s sleeve, urging her to ease the situation.
However, Ylah appeared determined not to back down and maintained her defiant posture.
Imogen, staying composed, calmly asked, “So, you’re suggesting that Grandpa Henry only cares about business relationships and not emotional ones, Ms. Willy?” Ylah’s face stiffened, and she quickly defended herself, “No, that’s not what I meant.” Just then, the door opened, and Troy and Sarah entered side by side.
Troy, with his striking looks and prestigious background, and Sarah, beautiful and successful in her career, made an envy–inducing pair. Everyone couldn’t help but admire them together.
The product manager leaned over to Imogen and whispered, “Mr. Marshall and Ms. Page make a perfect match.”
Imogen’s heart pricked, and she forced a smile, standing up to welcome the two of them to their seats.
“Mr. Marshall, you’re too kind. Please sit here. Sarah, join us as well,” Ylah said, taking the lead and arranging for Troy and Sarah to sit together.
Others also stood up to welcome them, and the atmosphere eased slightly.
“Let’s all take our seats.”
With Troy’s words, everyone settled back down.
The atmosphere at the dinner table turned friendlier, and Ylah and others initiated a conversation, occasionally teasing Troy and Sarah.
Troy didn’t talk much, but when he did, his words were on point, drawing everyone’s attention.
Amidst the lively banter, Imogen remained unusually silent. With Troy and Sarah present, she felt unnoticed by the rest of the group.
At one point, Ylah glanced at the food on Sarah’s plate and reminded her, “Sarah, be mindful of your appetite. Celebrities have to manage their bodies carefully.”
Sarah playfully responded, “Oh, you’re right.” She then placed a piece of pork belly on Troy’s plate. “Troy, I can’t finish this. Would you mind helping me out?”

In front of them sat a spicy pork stew, the meat immersed in a pool of fiery red chili oil sauce.
Knowing that Troy had a delicate stomach and disliked spicy food, Imogen was about to warn him, but before she could speak, he calmly picked up a piece of meat and ate it without flinching.
Imogen’s words got stuck in her throat, and she swallowed them back, realizing that she had almost unintentionally insulted herself. It reminded her that even something as unpleasant as arsenic would taste sweet if offered by someone she liked, much like these spicy chili peppers.
When someone offered a toast to Imogen, she politely declined, citing recent gastrointestinal discomfort, and opted for sparkling water instead of wine.
As the drinking continued, Ylah steered the conversation back to Imogen and casually asked Troy, “I heard that Ms. Forbes is your sister, and she worked under your command. You two must be very close!”
Troy glanced at Imogen and then at Sarah beside him, responding calmly, “We brought her in at Grandpa’s request.”
To others, his reply seemed normal. After all, when Imogen joined the Marshall family, Troy was already twenty years old, and they hadn’t grown up together. There was no real sibling bond between them.
But for Imogen, those words cut deep, causing fresh pain to surge within her heart. She couldn’t tell if Troy was deliberately distancing himself from her in front of Sarah or if it was a genuine reflection of his feelings.
Perhaps it was both.
After three years of marriage, it seemed that she still hadn’t managed to truly touch his heart. All his actions toward her over the years were perhaps only for the sake of appeasing Henry.
Putting on a faint smile, Imogen replied, “Mr. Marshall and I have a purely
professional relationship. There’s neither a good nor a bad connection between us. However, Ms. Willy, it appears you’re quite curious about me.”
Ylah boldly grinned, saying, “We’ll be working together, so it’s only natural to be a bit curious, Ms. Forbes. But if you’re uncomfortable with my questions, I’ll forget everything I heard here.”
The dinner extended for over two hours, and as it came to an end, the workday was also drawing to a close.
Imogen suggested that everyone leave work first before she headed back to her office.
At 8 pm, she turned off the lights and prepared to leave. Yet, she noticed that the CEO’s -office was still brightly illuminated.
Hesitating for a moment, she mustered the courage to approach Troy’s office and knocked on the door.
Receiving a response from inside, she pushed the door open and asked, “You still have an appointment even in the evening?”

Sir Your Wife Already Signed the Divorce Paper Chapter 9 Free Online (Imogen Forbes and Troy Marshall)

Chapter 9: Awakening from a Dream

Three years ago, when Imogen was still in college, she made sure to return to the Marshall family’s mansion every day, despite the distance between her school and the mansion, just to catch a glimpse of Troy whenever he came by.
And one day, she didn’t miss Troy’s arrival. However, she didn’t expect that instead of feeling gleeful at seeing him, her world crumbled as Troy was with someone. And that someone was Sarah. What was worse was he introduced the latter to his family as his girlfriend.
She saw them embrace and kiss in the backyard, witnessing her dreams shatter into pieces. She had always believed that she would only be able to admire Troy from afar, but then fate surprised her. She ended up marrying Troy, and at the time, it felt like a dream, too good to be true.
But dreams always have a way of ending.
Sarah was the one who brought her back to reality.
In her heart, a delicate pain arose, but Imogen managed a faint smile. “Long time no see, Ms. Page. You look even more radiant and charming.”
It seemed she could no longer bring herself to say the word “sister–in–law” anymore. Sarah smiled back and said, “Thank you, you look wonderful too. By the way, Imogen, I remember you’re a big fan of L.X., And coincidentally, she happened to be a friend I met abroad. So before I returned to Canada, I asked her to sign a record for you.” Imogen felt like she had been struck by lightning. The composed and reasonable woman was at a loss, like a clown entertaining everyone with laughs while harboring her own pain.
Her eyes darted hesitantly to Troy, silently pleading for him to clarify that it was he who had arranged the gift, not Sarah.
But Troy looked at her indifferently, delivering a piercing blow to her heart. “What? Don’t you like the gift Sarah brought you?”
Imogen’s face went numb, unable to express any emotion.
After what felt like an eternity, she gathered herself and spoke calmly, “Let’s discuss personal matters privately. We’ve waited long enough; let’s focus on the business at hand.”
“Oh, that’s right,” Sarah agreed and turned to Troy. “Troy, you could go back to the office. Remember to have lunch with me together at noon.”
“Yeah, I won’t forget,” Troy answered and turned to leave.
Imogen watched Troy leave with a bitter taste in her mouth and a heavy heart.
She had believed that maybe, just maybe, Troy held a small glimmer of affection for her.
But it had all been a delusion.
The meeting finally ended at 3 pm in the afternoon. The teams from both sides exchanged handshakes, but beneath the surface, Imogen’s heart remained troubled and broken.

Imogen organized the folders before her and addressed the team, her voice filled with appreciation. “Thank you all for your hard work. I’ll treat everyone to a meal. There’s a new restaurant downstairs that serves really authentic cuisine.”
Ylah Willy, Sarah’s agent, replied graciously, “Thank you for your kind gesture.”
As both teams headed to the elevator together, Ylah walked beside Sarah and inquired, “Ms. Page, Mr. Marshall mentioned wanting to have dinner with you. Why don’t you invite him to join us?”
Sarah smiled, replying, “I’ll ask him, but I’m not sure if he’ll agree.”
Ylah countered, “Oh, come on! He’s always been so kind to you.”
Sarah’s assistant playfully teased, “Ms. Page, don’t be too humble. It’s obvious you have a great relationship with Mr. Marshall. As soon as you returned to Canada, he got you the endorsement from McKesson. That says a lot.”
Sarah brushed off the banter, looking at Imogen apologetically. “Imogen, please go ahead with everyone. Troy and I will join you shortly.”
Imogen felt a flutter of emotion as she saw Sarah’s smile. She nodded silently, placing the folders back in the office. Taking charge, she reserved a private room at the restaurant downstairs, ordered some appetizers, and set the tone for a lively atmosphere. Handling events like these was second nature to her.
The staff from both teams engaged in cheerful conversations and laughter, enjoying the gathering. Ylah then turned her attention to Imogen and asked the group, “I’ve heard of Ms. Forbes for a while now. She must have considerable experience with the company.”
The product manager beamed, patting Imogen on the shoulder with pride. “Indeed! Despite her young age, Imogen has been with us for three years and has achieved remarkable success. She was instrumental in promoting last year’s popular MOBA mobile game as the market consultant.”
Ylah probed further, “I heard Ms. Forbes is related to Mr. Marshall, his sister perhaps?”
The product manager seemed uncomfortable and remained silent. Even though no one explained, it was obvious that Ylah was implying that there had been underhanded means, which was why Imogen achieved all of those.
Even so, Imogen remained composed, offering a warm smile. “That’s true. That’s why I’m truly grateful to Grandpa Henry for taking care of me.”
“You really should because it’s a privilege to have Mr. Marshall’s personal mentorship,”
Ylah remarked, her words carrying a subtle undertone.
Noticing the tension, Imogen’s colleagues looked displeased. However, Imogen maintained her composure. “Well, my father and grandfather were close friends, but despite that fact, I’m still very thankful that I didn’t have to struggle on the streets.”
Ylah persisted, attempting to create an awkward atmosphere. “Is it because your father donated his liver to Mr. Marshall?”

Chapter 8: Bittersweet Generous

Imogen took a deep, heavy swallow, suppressing the sourness that threatened to overwhelm her throat. “But Sarah’s image doesn’t align with the product theme,” she said.
Troy shrugged, his tone resolute. “That’s on you now. You have the means to make it work. This endorsement is crucial for Sarah, and you’ll have to oversee the entire process.”
Numbness spread over Imogen, her face stiff and devoid of emotion. She struggled to comprehend the situation and how Troy could expect her to manage this delicate situation.
‘Does he truly believe I’m just a robot, devoid of feelings?‘ Imogen lamented internally. ‘Doesn’t he understand how painful this is for me?‘
“Okay. I will do my best,” Imogen managed to say, her voice hoarse and strained, as if each word was an immense effort.
In the restroom, Imogen felt the turmoil within her erupt. She retched repeatedly, but nothing came out. She gently caressed her lower abdomen, seeking solace for herself and the tiny life growing within her.
The mirror before her reflected a woman with a pale face and reddened eyes. Imogen splashed cold water on her face, attempting to regain composure.
‘You can handle this. You’re strong, just like you promised your father,‘ she reassured herself. ‘And now, you have another reason to be strong–the baby inside you.‘
Returning to her office, Imogen called Lyka to apologize and appease her. She arranged another endorsement for Xena with a smaller perfume brand, promising that Xena would be a priority for future opportunities. Only then did Lyka relent.
Afterward, Imogen gathered her department staff for a meeting to discuss three potential options for Sarah’s endorsement. She also instructed her assistant to arrange a meeting with Sarah’s agent to finalize the details.
The day proved exhausting, but Imogen refused to let herself falter. She focused on her tasks, determined to deliver the best results.
Finally, she found herself alone in her office, looking wearily at the divorce agreement lying before her.
She flipped through it briefly, her heart heavy with mixed emotions. Troy’s generous offer of two villas, two luxury cars, and three million dollars felt ironic, considering the circumstances.
‘Bittersweet generosity,‘ she thought, managing a bitter smile.
The next day, Imogen hurried to the conference room, followed shortly by Henry, the Director of Operations, the Product Manager, the Chief Designer, and other staff members. However, after a few minutes, Sarah and her team had not yet arrived.

Growing impatient, Imogen turned to her assistant and said, “Go outside and contact Sarah’s agent. Urge them to hurry up.”
Not long after, the assistant returned and reported, “Ms. Forbes, I’ve urged them. They said they’ll be here soon.”
The morning dragged on, and the Operations Director and others expressed dissatisfaction with the delay.
Annoyed, Imogen turned to her assistant again and asked, “What’s the phone number of Sarah’s agent? Send it to me.
me”
Before the assistant could respond, a group of people finally entered the room through
the door.
“Ms. Page. Mr. Marshall, why are you here too?” asked one of the staff members, a hint of confusion in his voice.
Sarah, wearing a stunning goose yellow long dress, clung tightly to Troy’s arm. And Troy, dressed impeccably in a suit she had picked out for him earlier that morning. As the staff observed their intimate behavior, they exchanged knowing glances, seemingly understanding the rumors circulating for a long time. Sarah Page, the Movie Star, was Mr. Marshall’s first love, and the rumors appeared to hold some truth.
Imogen felt a faint pain in her heart, but she clenched her fingers and composed herself. “Mr. Marshall, Ms. Page, since you’re here, let’s start now,” she said, trying to remain professional.
Troy had once said that after their divorce, he would still treat her like a younger sister. But Imogen knew that former couples could never truly be friends. The emotions were too complex, and she couldn’t bear to witness the depth of love between Sarah and Troy. It was torture Imogen couldn’t endure. So, after the divorce, she decided to keep her distance from them.
Sarah was pleasantly surprised to see Imogen and took her hand, saying, “Imogen, you’re here too.”
Imogen glanced at Sarah’s hand, then discreetly withdrew her own, offering a faint nod in response.
Unaware of the turmoil inside Imogen, Sarah continued, “I know we aren’t as close as we used to be, but I still remember when you were in college, you used to call me sister–in–law.”
The remark hit Imogen like a punch to the gut, making it hard for her to breathe. Ms. Forbes was Troy’s foster sister, and Sarah seemed very familiar with her, implying a closer relationship with Troy.
Imogen had always known that she could never compete with Sarah, especially when it came to the bond between her and Troy.

Chapter 7: I Couldn’t Let the Child be Born

Troy’s stern gaze swept over Imogen’s expressionless face and then shifted to Charlene, sending a cold shiver down their spines. “You two are truly interesting,” he stated with a firm tone. “As directors, you argue and fight in front of the employees. Is this the example you wish to set for our company?”
The employees, cowed by Troy’s presence, hastily retracted their necks and avoided eye contact, captivated by the tense exchange before them.
Seizing the opportunity, Charlene swiftly spoke up, attempting to turn the tables in her favor. “Mr. Marshall, I was simply working when Ms. Forbes suddenly rushed over and created a scene, indiscriminately hitting me. Can someone who behaves like that truly be a brand director?”
Troy’s steely gaze turned to Imogen, and he spoke coldly, “Apologize.”
Though Imogen knew she wasn’t at fault, she could not voice her objections. With a deep breath and a clenched fist, she replied resolutely, “After Ms. Johnson.’
Her actions spoke of her determination not to apologize until Charlene did so first. Charlene, however, met Troy’s gaze defiantly and insisted, “But Mr. Marshall, I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Before Imogen could respond, Troy interrupted firmly, “I said apologize.”
His unwavering voice left no room for negotiation, and Imogen looked up incredulously at his cold expression, her heart tingling with unease.
He didn’t even ask for the facts or listen to her side of the story.
Troy’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he reiterated, “I’ll repeat it. Apologize to her.” Imogen’s fist clenched even tighter, her nails digging into her palm, but the pressure was too great to resist. She reluctantly turned to Charlene and managed to force a few words from her throat. “Sorry.”
The word seemed to etch a triumphant smile onto Charlene’s lips, and she responded proudly, “Apology accepted. But don’t think I’ll forgive you next time.”
Ignoring the taunt, Imogen pressed on, determined to know the reason behind Charlene’s actions. “However, Ms. Johnson, would you care to explain why you need to replace the spokesperson for the McKesson brand?”
Still wearing her confident smile, Charlene looked at Troy and confidently replied, “Mr. Marshall told me to do so.”
Imogen’s eyes widened in disbelief as she waited for Troy to deny it, but to her surprise, he remained silent. Instead, he turned and walked toward the CEO’s office.
“Ms. Forbes, come to my office,” he instructed, jolting Imogen from her thoughts. Taking a deep breath, she shot a fleeting glare at Charlene before following Troy, her heart heavy with unanswered questions.
After arriving at Troy’s office, Imogen couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer and asked directly, “Mr. Marshall, why did you replace Xena?”
Troy settled into his chair behind the desk, giving Imogen a fleeting glance but avoiding a direct answer. Instead, he shifted the topic unexpectedly. “What is your reply to the divorce agreement?”
The sudden shift caught Imogen off guard, and she replied, “I’ve been busy lately, so I haven’t had a chance to read it yet. But since you’re in a hurry, I’ll make sure to read it tonight.”

Troy paused, gazing at Imogen intently. “Okay,” he replied simply.
His simple response left Imogen feeling bitter, coupled with the question that had been haunting her for so long. She wanted to know what his answer would be, but she didn’t have a chance to do so. But it seemed fate had given her an opportunity. Thus, she inhaled deeply, mustering her courage, and asked, stuttering, “If… if we have a child, will you still pursue divorce?”
Cruelly, Troy’s swift and decisive reply crushed the last shred of hope within her. “It won’t happen. And even if it were to happen, I couldn’t let the child be born.”
Imogen’s world felt like it was crumbling around her, and she struggled to find words
to say. All she managed to say was, “I see.”
Taking a deep breath, she decided to address the matter quickly and leave so as not to prolong her suffering. “By the way, you already approved the plan, Mr. Marshall. So why do you want to replace Xena?”
It seemed odd for Troy to intervene in such a minor matter.
“I have a plan in mind,” Troy replied briefly, not divulging further details to Imogen. However, this only fueled Imogen’s curiosity. “I’ve been in charge of McKesson since the beginning, and you’ve rarely interfered with its development. If you wanted to change the spokesperson, why didn’t you discuss it with me first?”
Changing the spokesperson was more than just à single decision. It would have ripple effects on various aspects of the brand, from appeasing Xena’s team to redesigning advertising plans and coordinating schedules with the new spokesperson,
photographers, and others. The entire brand direction and promotion plan would need adjustments as well.
Troy leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs as he replied curtly, “I replaced her with Sarah.”
The name hit Imogen like a lightning bolt, leaving her momentarily stunned. It took her a while to regain her composure and ask in a daze, “Do you mean Sarah Page?” Troy confirmed with a nod, tapping his fingers firmly on the table. “She needs this endorsement as her first stepping stone when she returns to Canada for further development.”
Imogen felt as though the air had turned into a sharp blade, stabbing her heart and
lungs with agonizing pain. The news of Sarah being chosen as the replacement shook her deeply, leaving her grappling with the complex emotions within her.
